Poron suspension

To achieve soft treble reproduction, the TNF tweeter incorporates two significant advancements to our aluminum/magnesium tweeter. The suspension system between the dome and its bracket utilizes Poron, a shape memory material. Derived from the renowned Utopia Beryllium tweeter, this suspension method reduces distortion by a remarkable factor of three in the critical 2-3kHz range, where the human ear exhibits heightened sensitivity. Coupled with the inverted dome’s exceptional spatial characteristics and low directivity, it outperforms conventional domes used by competitors. This ensures an incredibly stable soundstage, making the listening position less critical and delivering an exceptional auditory experience.

Flax Cone

Since 2013, Focal has exclusively manufactured the flax cones in France, showcasing their commitment to acoustic excellence. With an original design, these cones are meticulously crafted for optimal acoustic performance. They consist of premium flax fiber encased between two thin layers of glass fiber. The unique characteristics of the flax cones contribute to their natural sound reproduction, minimal coloration, rich midrange performance, and tighter bass response.

The lightweight nature of the flax fiber fulfills the requirements of high internal damping, velocity, and flexural rigidity. In fact, flax is twice as light as fiberglass due to its hollow structure. Additionally, its low elasticity enhances the flexural rigidity of the sandwich structure. These combined properties make flax an ideal material for achieving outstanding sound quality and overall performance.
