Description
Focal Sopra N°1 (Pair) Bookshelf Speaker
Introducing the Focal Sopra N°1 (Pair) , a 2-way high-end bookshelf loudspeaker that marks a new era in the realm of ‘Premium High-End’ audio. Designed with meticulous attention to compactness, modernity, and a pure aesthetic, it seamlessly integrates into any interior with effortless elegance.
Compact yet powerful, the Focal Sopra N°1 is a showcase of technological innovation. It incorporates advanced features such as the ‘NIC’ magnetic circuit, ‘TMD’ surrounds for the midrange woofer, and Infinite Horn Loading (IHL) of the tweeter. These cutting-edge technologies not only minimize distortion but also provide exceptional clarity, precise definition, and a remarkable soundstage characteristic of bookshelf loudspeakers.
What truly sets the Sopra N°1 apart is the texture and smoothness of its sound reproduction. It delivers a solid and substantial audio experience, characterized by full-bodied and articulate bass. Its sonic presentation is neither artificial nor limited to the treble frequencies. The overall coherence and harmonic richness of the sound offer listeners a remarkable understanding and appreciation of the music in all its intricacies.
Infinite Horn Loading
The Focal Sopra N°1(Pair) employs the innovative Infinite Horn Loading (IHL) system to optimize the performance of the Beryllium tweeter. This tweeter features an exceptionally lightweight and rigid dome, resulting in a transparent and dynamic sound reproduction. However, the compact design of the Sopra N°1 necessitated maximizing the cabinet space for the bass drivers, leaving limited room for the tweeter.
To overcome this limitation, the IHL system was developed. It allows for proper loading of the Beryllium tweeter while meeting the compactness requirements of the speaker. The IHL system delicately and gradually absorbs the rear wave of the tweeter, effectively minimizing distortion and maintaining precise treble definition. With the implementation of the IHL system, the Focal Sopra N°1 achieves exceptional clarity and ensures the treble performance is pushed to its maximum potential.
Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC)
In our continuous pursuit of audio excellence, we have placed significant emphasis on the magnetic circuit, a critical component of a speaker driver. The stability of the magnetic field is crucial for achieving precise and detailed audio reproduction. To address this, we have developed NIC technology (Neutral Inductance Circuit) which allows us to effectively control and master the magnetic field, thereby reducing distortion.
By implementing NIC technology, we are able to minimize the detrimental effects of distortion. Which results in a sound that exhibits exceptional high-definition and unprecedented dynamics. This innovative approach to magnetic field control ensures an enhanced level of precision and clarity in audio reproduction, allowing listeners to experience music in its truest form.
Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) Technology
During our extensive research, our teams have identified resonances that can affect the definition in the suspension system connecting the cone to the basket. Traditional methods of increasing the damping properties of the suspension typically result in increased mass, leading to a compromise in definition. However, we discovered a solution inspired by earthquake-resistant skyscrapers and race car suspensions.
Introducing “TMD” technology, which involves optimizing the suspension profile to effectively control resonances. By doing so, we can significantly reduce distortion and enhance the definition of bass and midrange frequencies. This innovative approach allows us to maintain a perfect balance between damping and definition. Which results in exceptional audio quality without compromising on precision and clarity.
